Bev has been involved with Niños Incapacitados for the past four years. She is a widely known artist in oils, watercolor and colored pencil, selling in Mexico and throughout the US. She has illustrated books for local lakeside writers and donates many paintings to Niños Incapacitados fund raisers. Bev and her husband Mel chose to volunteer for Niños because of the well-organized way we help the children and families and because 96% of all monies donated go to the needs of the children. Bev has worked as a commercial property interior designer (San Diego, CA), a real estate broker and art teacher (Sedona, AZ) and did, together with Mel, travelled the US and Canada for seven years in a motorhome before moving to Lakeside six years ago.

Derek has spent his working life in Canada in different aspects of the financial business, both at large companies and start-ups. He retired about 15 years ago, after which he helped start up a new financial services firm which was recently sold to an insurance company. He has served on corporate boards of directors, both public and private companies. In charitable work, he has chaired a Foundation to help children who are disadvantaged through no fault of their own, served as an executive director of CanStage, Canada's largest not-for-profit theatre company, and founded and chaired for many years the Hanen Foundation, which taught families of non-communicative children a revolutionary method of learning to communicate. It now has a large number of speech pathologists world wide using the Hanen method, in numerous languages and countries. He and his partner, Merelyn Shore, bought a house in La Floresta in 2007, normally coming here in October and leaving for Canada late April. He is an active golfer and tennis player.

Carol and her husband David, both originally from Toronto, Canada, retired to Ajijic permanently in 2013. Carol had a long career in Retail Marketing, Merchandising and Operations working with large corporations and small independents. She wanted to give back to a community that so graciously accepted her and David. Carol and David started attending many of the Niños Incapacitados events and then she volunteered her services to Niños Incapacitados 8 months after arriving in Ajijic. Carol had an affinity towards children in need. One of her pleasures while working with a chain of independent pharmacies, was organizing a Charity Golf Event for 9 years that raised 1 Million Dollars for The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada. Carol and David look forward to living a long and happy life here in Mexico and contributing to this most beautiful community.
Larry had a long career as a finance professor and dean at a Canadian business school and retired in the summer of 2013. He and his wife, Jessie, have been seasonal residents in Ajijic since 2010 and are becoming permanent residents in 2014. Larry and Jessie have lived in Canada, the US, Trinidad and Hong Kong and are now looking forward to discovering the richness of Mexico. Larry has served on several not-for-profit boards in Canada and Hong Kong and would like to contribute in some way to the communities and people of Mexico who are so gracious in welcoming expats to their country.

Ron Tomlinson was born in a small prairie town called Souris in Manitoba. The river was mouse colored and thus the name. Ron`s father was a grocer and Ron spent many hours in his youth working in the store for his father. Ron became a product manager for the Rowntree Chocolate Company and his career blossomed as he gained experience and insight. Ron became President of White Spot Restaurants on Canada`s west coast a position that he truly savored. The Presidency of Hostess snack foods brought him back to Ontario which was challenging but very rewarding. Ron`s career went international when he became the head of the Cote Dor chocolate company in Brussels , Belgium. Ron`s wife Maureen and he moved to Belgium and it turned out to be a very fulfilling adventure. Ron and Maureen then moved to Frankfurt and later Bremen Germany when Ron was appointed to head up the Kraft Food business in in Germany. Ron has two daughters, one a pediatrician and the other a pathologist. His son Sean is an IT specialist in Canada. Tom has been retired for enough time to hardly remember his life before! He does remember being a senior executive in retail merchandising in Canada for many years, followed by a brief career in big law firm management. As a part time resident of Ajijic for many years, Tom and his wife Lorna have spent most of their time absorbing Mexican culture and life in our beautiful village. As well they have both been heavily involved in building the Northern Lights Music Festival from humble beginnings to a mainstay of the local cultural scene.
