Casa Mayabela’s annual “Jalisco Scramble” golf tournament, benefitting Niños Incapacitados, Lakeside’s largest local charity, begins at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the Chula Vista Country Club in San Antonio Tlayacapan.

This year, there’s something new: each foursome will receive a complimentary bottle of Tequileño Blanco tequila at the start of play. The Tequileño distillery in the Mexican town of Tequila is a new tourney sponsor.

Players are invited to stop by the Tequileño “Mixology Tent” with their complimentary bottle to sample a cocktail. House-smoked BLT sandwiches also will be offered at the tournament turn.

First-place prize will be $4,000 pesos plus four Casa Mayabela gift certificates valued at $1,000 pesos each. Second place earns four $300 peso Casa Mayabela gift certificates.

A shotgun starts at 9 a.m. Lunch will be provided afterward, around mid-afternoon.

Tickets are $1,000 pesos per player for Chula Vista club members. Non-member fees are $1,000 pesos plus $850 peso for club green fees.

Since 1974, Niños Incapacitados is a nonprofit, volunteer group that helps government-qualified Mexican families pay ongoing and one-time major medical expenses for children with serious disabilities or life-threatening ailments, such as brain cancer, strokes and disabilities. It serves families throughout Lakeside.
